12-ASSIST NEWCASTLE TARGET OFFICIALLY BECOMES A FREE AGENT

Borussia Dortmund ace Raphael Guerreiro is becoming a free agent this summer amid interest from Newcastle United.

Raphael Guerreiro will now be available on a free transfer with Newcastle United thought to be interested.

Dortmund suffered heartbreak on the final day of the Bundesliga season as they could only draw 2-2 with Mainz.

Bayern Munich swooped in to win the title, leaving Dortmund fans absolutely devastated.

Edin Terzic and co must now plan for the next season in which Dortmund will hope to finally end Bayern’s dominance.

Players will come and go this summer as a result and the exit of Guerreiro has already been confirmed.

Dortmund have announced that Guerreiro is leaving the club on a free transfer with his contract expiring this summer.

It’s a sad end for Guerreiro, who would have wanted to go out as a Bundesliga champion with Dortmund.

Instead, the Portugal international leaves without ending Bayern’s dominance, some seven years since joining from Lorient.

Newcastle United keen on Raphael Guerreiro
Guerreiro is bound to attract enormous interest this summer.

The 29-year-old has top-level experience with Dortmund and Portugal, and has featured prominently as a left back and as a midfielder.

Guerreiro was superb this season, racking up 12 Bundesliga assists in an impressively creative campaign.

90min reported in March that Aston Villa and Newcastle United both fancy signing Guerreiro on a free transfer this summer.

News of his confirmed exit from Dortmund will be of real interest to both Unai Emery and Eddie Howe, who will see versatility in Guerreiro.

Newcastle’s Champions League qualification could give them the upper hand, but Emery has guided Villa into the Europa Conference League and can’t be overlooked.

Fabrizio Romano notes that Guerreiro will decide his next step soon, with Atletico Madrid also understood to be very keen.
