Tottenham have seen a plethora of players leave their books this summer, with the latest departure marking the third player sold for a fee.
Spurs confirmed on Tuesday that academy prospect Yago Santiago has joined Elche after failing to make a first-team appearance in five years. The 21-year-old, who joined from Celta Vigo in 2019, progressed through Tottenham’s youth setup, scoring nine goals and contributing 17 assists in Premier League 2 last season.
Despite making five senior matchday squads, four under Postecoglou last season, Santiago was not in the Australian manager’s plans for the upcoming campaign and has sought first-team action in Spain’s second tier. His departure follows the sales of Joe Rodon to Leeds and Troy Parrott to Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.
In addition to these sales, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been loaned to Marseille with an obligation-to-buy clause of £16.8m effective next summer, and Bryan Gil has joined Girona on loan for his third spell in Spain since joining Spurs in 2021.
Earlier this summer, Tottenham released several players at the end of their contracts, with Eric Dier returning to loan club Bayern Munich, Ryan Sessegnon going back to Fulham, and Ivan Perisic moving back to Croatia. Tottenham have made three permanent signings: Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, and Yang Min-hyuk from Gangwon FC, while Timo Werner’s second loan spell from RB Leipzig includes a buy-out option of £8.5m.
