Tottenham faced a K-League XI in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday, where Ange Postecoglou was seen delivering a fiery touchline rant to his players.
Spurs are currently on a pre-season tour of Asia, preparing for the upcoming Premier League season. They recently secured a 3-2 victory over Japanese side Vissel Kobe, with goals from Pedro Porro, Son Heung-min, and Mikey Moore.
Their next match was against a K-League XI at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. After a goalless opening quarter, Postecoglou’s frustration boiled over.
During a water break in the first half, the Australian manager was captured on camera shouting at his team, urging them to go “man to man” with their opponents.
“I’ve got one f***ing thing to say. We go and have a crack,” Postecoglou shouted. “We’re going on the press, man for man. Just go man for man!”
Tottenham fans quickly took to social media to praise Postecoglou for his passionate approach and winning mentality. “Proper manager,” one supporter posted on X. Another added, “Ange needs to stay healthy to win this team a trophy.”
Postecoglou’s words seemed to resonate with his players, as Tottenham responded by scoring three quick goals before halftime, with Dejan Kulusevski finding the net and Son Heung-min adding a brace. However, the K-League XI fought back in the second half, with FC Seoul striker Stanislav Iljutcenko scoring twice in quick succession to narrow the gap.
Tottenham appeared to regain control when youngster Will Lankshear added a fourth goal, but the Korean side struck again through Oberdan Alionco de Lima, setting up a tense finish.
Spurs will continue their pre-season campaign with a friendly against Bayern Munich in Germany on Saturday, followed by a rematch in London on August 10. They’ll kick off their Premier League season against Leicester on August 19.
