Girona have been very active in the transfer market this summer, securing players like Abel Ruiz, Donny van de Beek, and Bryan Gil in preparation for their first season in the Champions League.
They’ve also focused on strengthening their B team, making a significant signing for the future.
According to Sport, Girona has agreed to a three-year contract with Nil Caldero. The 19-year-old, capable of playing as a striker or winger, became a free agent after his contract with Barcelona expired on June 30th.
Caldero was the captain of Barcelona’s U18 side last season and also played for the U19s. Despite his leadership and talent, he did not have a clear pathway to the first team, unlike some of his teammates, such as Marc Guiu and Dani Rodriguez. As a result, he chose to leave Barcelona and is now set to start a new chapter at Girona.
