‘No One Will Stand in His Way’ – Tottenham and Arsenal Handed Major Boost in Neto Pursuit After Key Admission
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur could be set for a heated battle off the pitch as they prepare to go head to head for a Premier League winger in the final month of the transfer window.
Both North London clubs are eyeing a move for Wolves’ star, Pedro Neto, who has caught the attention of top clubs with his impressive performances.
The Gunners have already bolstered their defense with the signing of Italian Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna and are actively pursuing a deal for Spain midfielder Mikel Merino.
Meanwhile, Spurs have strengthened their squad by adding Leeds utility man Archie Gray and are keen to enhance their attacking options.
Caught Offside reports that both Arsenal and Tottenham, along with long-term admirers Newcastle United, are intensifying their interest in the Portuguese winger. With the transfer window closing soon, the race to secure Neto’s signature is expected to heat up significantly.
In a significant development, Wolves boss Gary O’Neil has admitted that while he hopes to retain Neto, a deal could be struck for the 24-year-old to leave Molineux this summer. O’Neil acknowledged Neto’s quality and potential to succeed at a big club but remains optimistic about keeping him.
“I know how good he is, and I know how well he would do at a big club. Obviously, I want our team here to be unbelievably successful.
So I’m hoping that he stays,” O’Neil said. “I think so (there’s a chance he stays). There’s nothing going on at this moment from anybody. He’s in a good spot, I’ve spoken to him about how we’re going to play and how it suits him and what a big part he’ll play in it.”
O’Neil’s candid comments highlight the reality of modern football, where substantial offers from top clubs can be hard to resist. He added, “But of course, we’re all grown-ups while you’re having them conversations. If a massive bid comes from a top club, then no one is going to stand in Pedro’s way.”
“I’m confident that he will be here. Because we haven’t had anything really, that makes the club think that he won’t be. But of course, a lot of business can be done late.”
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is reportedly keen on strengthening his attack and sees Neto as a potential fit. According to TEAMtalk, sources suggest Spurs are also interested in Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.
However, Postecoglou has not disclosed specific names but confirmed his desire to add a new forward, especially after Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich last summer.
In quotes carried by Football.London, Postecoglou explained his approach to signing a new striker. “At Celtic, I had Kyogo, who was a sort of out and out number nine and in Japan, I’ve always had a striker.
It just depends, like last year we had to be a bit creative, it’s fair to say. You know but if Harry would have stayed, I definitely would have used him!” he said.
Postecoglou emphasized the importance of finding a striker that fits the team’s playing style and physical demands. “So I think for us what’s more important is the type of striker we get. You know we play a certain way.
We demand certain things from a physical perspective from the technical aspects of it that it’s going be a striker that fits that mould.”
“It’s still the area of the park we’re really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that’s a focus for us.”
Given his versatility, Neto could be deployed centrally if he joins Tottenham. His ability to play across the front line offers Postecoglou tactical flexibility, which could be crucial as Spurs aim to enhance their attacking prowess.
As the transfer window deadline approaches, the competition for Pedro Neto’s signature is set to become more intense.
Arsenal and Tottenham fans will be eagerly watching to see if their club can secure the talented winger, whose potential move could significantly impact the Premier League landscape this season.
In the high-stakes world of football transfers, Gary O’Neil’s acknowledgment that “no one will stand in Pedro’s way” if a significant offer comes through adds an intriguing element to this saga. Both North London clubs are poised for a showdown, with each hoping to gain an edge in their bid to sign one of the league’s most promising talents.
