Don Buchwald might not be a name known to everyone, but to dedicated fans of Howard Stern, he became a common reference throughout the years.
And that is because Buchwald was famously the agent for both Stern and sidekick Robyn Quivers. So “Stern Show” fans and figures have been in mourning after news broke Monday that he has died.
Per the site, Buchwald has been Stern’s agent, manager and publicist since the early 1980s, and helped land him a couple of mega contracts with SiriusXM.
Stern told The New York Times in 2018 that when he first met Buchwald, the agent told him his career could “be as big as Johnny Carson’s.”
“I thought this guy might be a little bit nuts,” Stern said. “But he believed in me from the very beginning, more than I believed in myself.”
It is a story Stern also told countless times on the radio as he often raved about his love for Buchwald and his ability.
“I promised my father that the incredible agency he build from the ground up 47 years ago will not only continue to flourish but will evolve as we forge our path ahead,” his daughter, Julia Buchwald said in a statement, according to Variety. “I, along with my devoted teammates, intend to keep this promise and make Don proud.”
Stern is currently off the air and on vacation for the summer so he has yet to comment publicly on the death.
