My biggest mistake was joining Tottenham Hotspur

Lucas Moura admits that his only regret when it comes to his time at Tottenham Hotspur is that he did not win any silverware with the club.

The 30-year-old will officially become a free agent from Saturday after four-and-a-half-years at Tottenham, following a tearful goodbye and a fitting solo goal in the final match of the Premier League season at Leeds United. As Lucas prepares to embark on his next challenge he took part in an interview with French media outlet L’Equipe this month and spoke about his time in north London.

It’s a mixture of emotions, I think. I’m leaving with my head held high and with the feeling of a job well done,” he said in quotes translated by Sport Witness.

“I’ve built something solid and made my mark on the history of Tottenham, but I’m also leaving the club with a twinge of regret. It hurts to leave this club, my teammates, the city… It will remain a positive experience. I’ve grown and progressed. My only regret is not winning a title. That’s a shame.”

The Brazilian also admitted in the interview that he “would not rule out” a move to another Premier League club and would give any offer “careful consideration”, but is also “open to other leagues” and will make “the best possible choice”.
