I regretted Joining Tottenham Hotspur According to Harry Kane

Harry Kane has been told by former Premier League striker Michael Owen why he made a mistake leaving Tottenham Hotspur.

Kane left Spurs last summer to complete a £100 million move to Bayern Munich. The striker has since gone on to score 44 goals in 45 appearances for the German club in all competitions in his debut season.

This season has seen Bayern miss out on winning a major trophy, after being knocked out of the Champions League and Bayer Leverkusen won the Bundesliga title. Bayern also exited the DFB Pokal in the second round at the hands of German third-tier club Saarbrucken.

As a result, Kane’s wait for the first major trophy of his club career goes on and now he has been told why he made a mistake joining Bayern.

Owen, who scored 150 Premier League goals during spells at Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester United across his career, has explained why Kane may have regrets about leaving Spurs last year.

“Hindsight will always win in that case. When he first moved to Bayern, I believed it was a really bad thing to do,” Owen told Gambling Zone.

You could have interviewed me three or four months ago and I’d have said wow, that was a great prediction, look how far they are behind in the Bundesliga. But that would only have been hindsight too. I believe and still do believe it was wrong.”

Owen added: “I left Liverpool to go to Real Madrid and that team was as average a team as there has been in the last 25 years. Then they went and won the Champions League.

“So hindsight said it was stupid, but realistically look where they finished in the league. I still believe it was the wrong thing.

“He could be close to being the all-time leading goalscorer now, a really exciting Spurs team that with him in it would be in the top four, and he would be four games away from being a free agent to do what he wants. He’d be living in a spectacular house where he wants to live.”
