Courteney Cox had her eyes on her Co-star while filming ‘Ace ventura’

Howard Stern once hosted a memorable interview with the leading ladies of Friends—Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow—on his SiriusXM show, where some intriguing revelations were made. During the conversation, Cox admitted to having a crush on a co-star, though she remained coy about any romantic developments, insisting that they had become good friends off set, often sharing a lot of laughs together. Stern playfully suggested that if he had been in her position, he might have tried to take things further.

The co-star in question was none other than Jim Carrey, with whom Cox starred in the 1994 comedy Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Cox played Melissa Robinson alongside Carrey’s titular character, and the two quickly became friends, bonding over Carrey’s infectious humor. Cox recalled how Carrey seemed ordinary at first but would instantly transform into character once filming began. She confirmed that their rapport eventually developed into chemistry, though she skillfully dodged Stern’s probing questions about what happened beyond that.

While promoting Ace Ventura in the ‘90s, Cox spoke highly of Carrey, noting that despite his constant humor, he had a serious and intense side. The film was a turning point for both Cox and Carrey, catapulting Carrey into Hollywood stardom. The movie grossed over $95 million at the box office and earned Carrey several accolades, including the American Comedy Award in 1995.

Carrey would later work with Cox’s close friend, Jennifer Aniston, in the 2003 hit Bruce Almighty. Their on-screen chemistry was so convincing that rumors of a romantic connection began to swirl, even though Aniston was married to Brad Pitt at the time. Carrey recalled encountering Pitt a few times on set, adding another layer of intrigue to the behind-the-scenes stories of these iconic actors.
