Justin Fields shows true colours after Chicago Bears beaten by

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields refused to shirk responsibility as he gave an honest reflection on the team’s loss to the Green Bay Packers.

The Bears were beaten 38-20 in the NFC North divisional match-up on Sunday in the opening game of the new NFL season. It means that the Bears go 0-1 and have lost to a divisional rival after the opening weekend of the new season.

Fields completed 24-37 passes with one touchdown pass and 216 total passing yards. He did have an interception, though, which resulted in a pick-six for Packers linebacker Quay Walker.

As he enters his third season in the NFL, Fields will be hoping to guide the Bears to a successful year after a disappointing 3-14 record in 2022. The 11th overall pick from the 2021 NFL Draft has been the starting QB ever since he arrived at Soldier Field.

After the loss to the Packers, Fields gave his honest opinion on how the defeat made him feel. The 24-year-old went on to apologise to everyone connected with the Bears franchise and vowed to do all he could to improve the situation in the coming weeks.

“It sucks,” Fields told ESPN . “Rivalry, Week 1, going against the Packers. It sucks. I mean, nobody’s in good spirits. This one hurts. I’m not going to lie to you. It definitely sucks.

It definitely hurts. Not only because it’s the first game of the season, it’s a loss, but it’s a loss to them. So, I want to say sorry to teammates, all the fans that were rooting for us. We’ll bounce back. We’ll be good.”

In terms of total yardage, the Bears were only marginally worse off than the Packers with Fields helping to contribute to the 311 compared to the 329 of their opponents. And despite being the quarterback, Fields also led the team for rushing with 59 yards from nine carries.

Fields went on to talk about the tactics used by the Bears against Matt LaFleur’s defense. The third-year quarterback explained a possible reason why the Bears struggled with the passing game on Sunday.
