Tottenham Hotspur are closely monitoring Conor Gallagher’s situation at Chelsea following the collapse of his proposed move to Atletico Madrid, sources have told Football Insider.
In the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke shared that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou “would love” to bring the England international to North London. With the transfer window closing on August 31st, Tottenham are actively searching for a central midfielder, and Gallagher has been on their radar for some time.
Postecoglou is eager to strengthen his midfield, having already secured the signing of Archie Gray from Leeds United earlier this summer.
However, sources suggest that a deal between Chelsea and Tottenham for Gallagher is unlikely to materialize.
Gallagher had traveled to Madrid in anticipation of completing his move, but the transfer fell through, leaving the situation unresolved. Atletico Madrid is still expected to pursue the midfielder, especially as they are currently in talks with Chelsea regarding a deal for Joao Felix, which could pave the way for Gallagher’s move.
While Tottenham may attempt to swoop in for Gallagher if the opportunity arises, the club might also need to consider alternative targets to strengthen their squad.
