Tottenham to sell £27.2m signing for £12.8m, with three-way battle heating up

Tottenham Hotspur are continuing their summer transfer activity with a focus on strengthening the squad while also offloading fringe players. Manager Ange Postecoglou is working to assemble a team capable of competing for trophies and securing a top-four finish, which is the club’s minimum expectation.

As the new Premier League season kicks off, Tottenham will face Leicester City in their opening match on Monday night. To address gaps from last season, Postecoglou has brought in new signings like Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray, and Wilson Odobert, each adding key qualities to the squad.

The Spurs squad had become quite large, necessitating a significant clear-out this summer. Several fringe players have left the club, with Eric Dier, Ryan Sessegnon, Tanguy Ndombele, Ivan Perisic, and Emerson Royal all departing permanently. Additionally, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg has moved to Marseille, and Bryan Gil has joined Girona on loan, helping to reduce the wage bill.

One of the more notable decisions by Postecoglou has been to freeze out Giovani Lo Celso, making him available for sale. According to reports from Fichajes, Real Betis, AS Roma, and Aston Villa are all interested in acquiring the midfielder, with Tottenham setting a €15 million price tag—an attainable figure for these clubs.

Tottenham originally signed Lo Celso from Real Betis for £27.2 million after a successful loan spell. However, the Argentine has struggled to secure a regular spot in the first team and has spent much of his time on loan elsewhere. With the club now looking to move him on, it seems his time at Tottenham is coming to an end.
