US Open 2024: Who are the men's singles seeds? Ft. Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz

The final Grand Slam of the 2024 season, the US Open, is set to take place from August 26 to September 8. In the men’s draw, Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic have been named the top two seeds.

Jannik Sinner, who ascended to World No. 1 earlier this year, has had a stellar season, securing four titles, including the Australian Open, the other hard-court Major. However, the top seed will be looking to improve on last year’s US Open performance, where he was eliminated in the fourth round after a five-set battle with Alexander Zverev.

Last year’s champion, Novak Djokovic, enters the tournament as the second seed. Djokovic has enjoyed a resurgence in the latter half of 2024, making it to the Wimbledon final and clinching the elusive gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz, who is seeded third, has had a remarkable year as well, winning the French Open and Wimbledon and reaching the Olympic final. Despite some inconsistency on hard courts leading up to New York, the Spaniard remains a strong contender for the title, which he previously won in 2022.

Alexander Zverev, the 2020 runner-up, and Daniil Medvedev, the 2021 champion, are seeded fourth and fifth, respectively. Both players have been finalists in Majors this year, with Zverev falling short at the French Open and Medvedev at the Australian Open. The top 10 seeds are rounded out by Andrey Rublev, Hubert Hurkacz, 2022 runner-up Casper Ruud, Grigor Dimitrov, and Alex de Minaur.

Although there are no American players in the top 10 seeds, five Americans are among the 32 seeded players at this year’s US Open. Taylor Fritz leads the pack as the 12th seed, followed closely by Tommy Paul and Ben Shelton, seeded 12th and 13th, respectively. Sebastian Korda, the 16th seed, has shown promising form on hard courts and could be poised for a deep run. Frances Tiafoe, who made his breakthrough at the 2022 US Open with a semifinal appearance, is seeded 23rd.
