Concerning signs for Carlos Alcaraz as Spaniard injures himself in US Open practice, just hours after Novak Djokovic experiences similar fate

Carlos Alcaraz’s 2024 US Open campaign has gotten off to a challenging start, as the Spanish tennis star sustained an injury just three days before his first match. During a practice session on Saturday, Alcaraz rolled his ankle and immediately stopped training to avoid worsening the injury. This setback for Alcaraz occurred shortly after Novak Djokovic encountered a similar issue, cutting short his practice session with Holger Rune due to some discomfort.

Both Alcaraz and Djokovic had impressive performances at the Paris Olympics leading up to the hardcourt season, with each reaching the final. Djokovic ultimately emerged victorious, defeating Alcaraz in straight sets to secure his first Olympic gold medal.
