range on top! IndyCar driver Rinus ‘VeeKay’ van Kalmthout reveals that he will race with a special livery for the Indy500. The livery contains an orange ‘touch’, and is of course a reference to the national color of the Netherlands. ‘It is an honor that they took my Dutch roots into account’, says ‘VeeKay’.
This year, the 109th edition of the Indianapolis 500 is on the program, and Van Kalmthout will race in a one-off livery especially for that. Normally, the Dale Coyne Racing driver drives in blue and white colors, but for the Indianapolis 500, an orange ‘touch’ is added. The special livery is in collaboration with main sponsor and AI platform askROI, and was designed by Dave Marek, creative director of Honda America.
The orange will be seen on both Van Kalmthout’s mirror and the front wing endplates. “It’s a huge privilege to be able to drive around in the askROI colors,” says ‘VeeKay’ from Indianapolis. “It’s also an honor that they took my Dutch roots into account and added orange tones to the car. Illustrator Dave Marek and his creative team have really created something unique.”
