George Russell is certain that Lewis Hamilton will soon be back to his old self at Ferrari. The seven-time world champion is struggling to get used to the SF-25, and has therefore not yet been able to achieve the results he had dreamed of with the Italian team. According to his former teammate, however, it is only a matter of time before ‘the magic of Lewis’ will be seen again.
With 31 points after five races, Lewis Hamilton is currently seventh in the drivers’ championship. The seven-time world champion is thus behind his successor at Mercedes Andrea Kimi Antonelli, and three places lower than former teammate George Russell .

While critics, including Ralf Schumacher, wonder whether Hamilton is past his peak, Russell has a completely different opinion. “He is a seven-time world champion, has a lot of experience and is a great driver,” Russell defends the Ferrari driver. “We saw it in China. He took pole position in the sprint and won the race without a fight.”
The Magic of Lewis
Russell was Hamilton’s teammate at Mercedes for three seasons between 2022 and 2024. The Briton beat the seven-time world champion several times in qualifying and races, and even became the first Hamilton teammate since Nico Rosberg in 2014 to qualify more times ahead of than behind the world champion in 2024. Still, Russell dares to make a small prediction. “I know what he can do. I’m sure that when everything falls into place, we will see more of Lewis’ magic.”
