Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence is unsure about leaving Ange Postecoglou’s side and the Premier League for the Championship.

According to football.london, Djed Spence is attracting interest from clubs in English football’s second division and Italy.

However, the outlet claims that the right-back is not too sure about leaving the Premier League and could remain at Tottenham as a bench player.

Postecoglou currently has Pedro Porro and Emerson Royal for the right side of his defence, so it is highly unlikely that the 23-year-old will get game time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season.

He made just four appearances in the Premier League last term before joining Rennes on loan for the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.

Spurs signed Spence from Middlesbrough in a deal worth up to £20m.

Djed Spence has to leave Tottenham

For the sake of his career, Spence would be wise to join another club this summer, either on loan or permanently.

Again, with Emerson and Porro currently ahead of him, he is just not going to play at Tottenham this season. He missed a lot of football in the previous campaign and it will be a repeat if he remains in north London.

From Tottenham’s perspective, because they already have two capable right-backs, it also makes sense for them if Spence goes.

The former Middlesbrough man is someone on their wage bill that they simply do not need.

The above does not mean that Spence is a bad player, but there is clearly no room for him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium right now.

It would be best if he went somewhere else and tried to showcase his talent there. If not, then this season could easily end up being one that halts his development. Spence is 23 and needs to be playing at this stage of his career.
