Perr Schuurs’ agent now says that the Torino star could be on the move this summer if the right deal comes along which will alert interested Newcastle United.
Fabrizio Romano has been speaking to football agent George Gardi who represents Newcastle target Perr Schuurs. Speaking on Romano’s YouTube channel, Gardi was asked if Schuurs could leave Torino this summer.
Romano said: “Another one to watch is Perr Schuurs who had a fantastic season at Torino. We had really strong links, recently I heard about Liverpool after Newcastle sent their scouts to watch the player. How is the feeling on Newcastle and Liverpool? Both clubs will be on the market for a centre-back”
Schuurs’ agent is open to discuss a move this summer
To which Gardi replied: “I think it was a very intelligent choice for him to accept the offer from Torino. He has taken one step back for three steps forward in his future. His ambition is to play at the highest level of European football. He’s had an amazing season so there are several clubs interested in him, and we will discuss with Torino if it is a decision that is positive for all parties, it could be an option to evaluate this summer.”
Shuurs has been valued at £44million and the 23-year-old has hinted that he could leave the Italian side this summer amid interest from Newcastle and Liverpool.
Newcastle might feel they have the advantage over their Premier League rivals this summer as they can boast Champions League football next season over Liverpool’s Europa League, but both can offer exciting potential centre-back pairings for the dutchman.
Liverpool of course still have Dutch legend Virgil van Dijk, but Newcastle have the Netherlands’ future legend in Sven Botman for Schuurs to link up with. Both are 23 years old and could grow into the game together and form a solid partnership for club and country.
Schuurs might feel he has unfinished business at Liverpool
Schuurs was formerly on the books at Liverpool when he was 17 but both parties decided his development would be best served back in Holland, so Schuurs may feel he has unfinished business at Liverpool.
It’s doubtful that Newcastle and Liverpool are the only sides interested in Schuurs who has had an excellent season for Torino as an almost ever-present force in their defence.
Schuurs has been hailed as ‘incredible‘ by Dutch media and sounds like he’d be a brilliant signing for Newcastle and having him link up with Botman could be amazing to watch. Hopefully this is a deal we can get done this summer.
