On Saturday night, LSU will pay tribute to Doug Moreau during its home game against South Carolina (7:45 p.m. ET, Tiger Stadium, SEC Network). The former All-America tight end from 1965 and long-time broadcaster will be honored for a remarkable career that includes playing, public service, and over 50 years in LSU broadcasting.
Born in Baton Rouge on February 15, 1945, Moreau played for LSU from 1963 to 1965. He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 1965 Sugar Bowl, thanks to a 57-yard touchdown and a 28-yard field goal that secured a 13–10 victory over Syracuse.
He went on to play four seasons in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins (1966–1969), ending his professional career with 73 catches for 926 yards and six touchdowns, while also occasionally serving as a kicker.
After retiring from football, Moreau pursued a career in public service as a judge and district attorney in East Baton Rouge Parish. He also became a staple of LSU sports media, joining the school’s radio and TV broadcasts in 1972 and remaining a prominent voice for more than 50 years.
LSU plans to recognize Moreau with an on-field tribute during the first quarter of Saturday’s game.

The on-field tribute will take place as LSU gears up for a primetime SEC matchup against South Carolina.
LSU, currently 4-1, is coming off a 24–19 loss to Ole Miss but enters the game as a 9.5-point favorite, with the over/under set at 44.5 according to ESPN BET. South Carolina holds a 3-2 record overall and is 1-2 in SEC play, fresh off a 35–13 victory over Kentucky at Williams-Brice Stadium.
LSU enters the matchup with one of the nation’s top scoring defenses, ranking sixth in the FBS by allowing just 12.2 points per game. However, their running game remains inconsistent, averaging only 104.8 rushing yards per contest and 3.6 yards per carry.
South Carolina brings a dynamic duo in quarterback LaNorris Sellers and explosive wide receiver Vandrevius Jacobs, along with a defense known for generating pressure and takeaways—recording 14 sacks in five games and ranking third nationally with three defensive touchdowns.
Saturday’s game in Baton Rouge promises a hard-hitting SEC battle, with LSU looking to sharpen its offensive performance while South Carolina seeks to capitalize on any weaknesses at the line of scrimmage.
