Joel Piroe ‘wouldn’t say no’ to Celtic if they could agree a deal with Leeds United for his signature this month, according to Voetbal International.
The Bhoys are determined to strengthen their frontline for Martin O’Neill this month as they look to retake control in the Scottish Premiership title race, with the Leeds star a reported target.
The Glasgow giants are on the verge of completing the signing of Tomas Cvancara on loan with an option to buy from Borussia Monchengladbach, but it might not be the last of their business in attack.
O’Neill said Celtic would be going ‘all out’ in the January transfer window earlier this month, but before the agreement for Cvancara the only arrival at Parkhead was Julian Aruajo on loan from Bournemouth.
Piroe is turning into one of the most sought-after Premier League players this month, with Voetbal International reporting that big Championship clubs Leicester City, Southampton, Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Birmingham City have all made enquiries to sign the forward this month.
However, the 26-year-old has rejected all of their advances as he is in no rush to leave Elland Road this month.
Despite his limited minutes under Daniel Farke in the Premier League this term, the Dutchman is said to be happy with life at Leeds as he looks to fight his way into the starting XI more regularly for the remainder of the campaign.
Celtic have held talks to sign Piroe according to the British media, although the fact that the 49ers own both Leeds and the Bhoys’ arch-rivals Rangers would more than complicate any potential deal.
Nevertheless, VI report that Piroe would find it difficult to ‘say no’ to a move to Parkhead should an agreement ever be found between the two clubs.
As of Tuesday night, the player’s representatives are said to be unaware of any interest from the Glasgow giants despite reports to the contrary.
While Piroe is yet to get off the mark in the Premier League for Leeds, his record over the past two seasons at Elland Road show exactly why he is in demand.
In 97 appearances for the Yorkshire club prior to this campaign, the Dutchman scored 33 goals and provided a further 10 assists for Farke, who has described his finishing as being ‘world-class’.
He is a proven goalscorer at Championship level and no doubt would be able to translate that form to the Scottish Premiership too.

Celtic will also be starting to think ahead to the summer transfer window in their bid to dominate Scottish football again.
According to reports, they are keen on an ambitious move to sign Liverpool star and Champions League winner Andy Robertson on a free transfer, when his contract at Anfield expires this summer.
The 31-year-old Scotland international would undoubtedly be an elite addition to Celtic’s squad next term, given his experience in the Premier League and in Europe, as well as how many trophies he has won at Anfield.
One sticking point could be the left-back’s wages though, with suggestions he earns around £200,000-a-week – after bonuses – on Merseyside.
Robertson would need to reduce those demands in order to secure a move to Celtic in the summer.
