Rob Rausch, winner of The Traitors season 4, has confirmed he plans to purchase a Hermès Birkin handbag for Maura Higgins as a peace offering after betraying her in the finale.
Rausch took home $220,800 in prize money and said during the Feb. 26 reunion that part of his winnings would go toward the luxury gift in an effort to earn Higgins’ forgiveness.
Rausch emerged as the sole winner of The Traitors season 4, securing the full $220,800 prize after turning on Higgins in the final stages of the Peacock competition series.
The decision allowed him to claim the pot but ended his alliance with the Love Island UK alum.
The Traitors reunion reveals Rob Rausch’s Birkin plan
During the Feb. 26 reunion of The Traitors, Rausch told host Andy Cohen that he intended to use a portion of his winnings on a Hermès Birkin for Higgins.
The gesture followed his strategic betrayal of her in the finale of The Traitors, a move that ensured his victory but cost her a share of the prize.
Higgins later addressed the promised gift in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, confirming she had not yet received it but expected it to arrive. She said,
“You can’t just walk into Hermès and buy a Birkin. So [fellow costar] Lisa Rinna, the queen herself, is helping Rob get the Birkin because Lisa has contacts. So I told him, ‘Speak to Lisa.’ I’ve sent him a picture of the exact bag I want. So now it’s in his hands. I deserve this.”
Lisa Rinna, who also appeared on The Traitors season 4, is assisting Rausch in securing the handbag due to her connections with the brand, according to Higgins’ account.
The Birkin, one of Hermès’ most sought-after items, is not typically available for immediate purchase without established client relationships.
Winning The Traitors came down to one bold move near the very end. Rausch’s choice to betray Higgins shaped how the finale turned out.
Though the move secured the $220,800 prize, it altered the dynamic among several cast members.
Eric Nam, another contestant eliminated during the finale of The Traitors, responded to the Birkin news in his own interview with Entertainment Weekly. Nam said,
“I need an [Audemars Piguet] watch or a Rolex or something. I’m gonna campaign for a Rolex from Rob. I was like, ‘I’ll take Birkin stock at this point — like, give me something!’ We were out the other night at the SNL party, and people came up like, ‘Did Rob get you anything? Did he buy you a drink?’ I was like, ‘This guy hasn’t even bought me a drink yet.’ Like, come on, man! But here’s the campaign for Rolex from Rob as retribution or something.”
Nam was among those affected by Rausch’s gameplay on The Traitors, as Rausch’s strategic choices in the finale influenced the distribution of prize money.
The reunion episode of The Traitors revisited those decisions, giving cast members an opportunity to address lingering tensions.
Rausch also reflected on the conclusion of The Traitors season 4 in an interview with GQ. Speaking about the moment he secured the win, he said,
“It was so weird, in that moment… I did it, I won the game, it’s over…but at the same time, it was very bittersweet. It wasn’t like, Hooray! It wasn’t happy feelings straight away. I was like, Oh, gosh.”
The $220,800 prize represents the full pot accumulated during The Traitors season 4. As the sole winner, Rausch retained the entire amount following the final vote.
His plan to purchase the Birkin reflects how he intends to allocate at least part of those winnings.
Throughout The Traitors, alliances proved temporary and trust often fleeting. Rausch and Higgins had worked closely during much of the season before his final decision.
The promised Birkin functions as an acknowledgment of that partnership and its abrupt end.
Whether the handbag arrives remains to be seen, but the reunion of The Traitors confirmed that Rausch has publicly committed to the purchase.
The Traitors season 4 is available to stream on Peacock.
