Nebraska may not be landing an extensive array of players in the 2026 class, but they are certainly making some waves with top recruits. The class sits at four commits, but I expect that number to jump significantly going into the busy June and July recruiting visit season. The new calendar means players are signing earlier, which means the coaches need to analyze film nonstop.
Final schools.
The Huskers are among the final four schools for Kelvin Obot, a top-ten offensive tackle from Fruitland, Utah. The 6-5, 295lb tackle has whittled down his offers to Nebraska, Michigan, Oregon, and Utah. This is a formidable set of schools for Matt Rhule to beat out, but coach Donovan Raiola has proved he can develop players for the next level.
Nebraska is also in the mix for the coveted signature of 4-star corner Camren Hamiel out of Arizona. Nebraska is up against Penn State, Oregon, and Texas A&M, but will get a chance to showcase its new facilities on June 6th when he takes his official visit. Hamiel is the 24th corner and the top-ranked player in Arizona according to the On3 rankings.
Offers galore.
Nebraska hasn’t stopped there, continuing with its recruiting exploits by offering 2027 players looking to the future.
Nebraska offered 4-star Alabama commit Jabarrius Garror this week, and as the 3rd-ranked player in the state of Alabama, this would be a massive get to lure him out of state. Lastly, Nebraska offered one of the top players at defensive back, Montre Jackson from Garland, Texas. Jackson is a top 200 player nationally and the 19th-ranked cornerback in the 2027 class according to 247 Sports.
The summer should be where the rubber hits the road with hosting players throughout the summer, but Nebraska is mixing it with the big dogs of college football. To pluck a top-ranked player from the state of Alabama would have been unheard of a few years ago, but
Matt Rhule believes Nebraska belongs at the table. Whether they land these top players is another story, but an 8-plus record in the fall will go a long way to sealing the deal.
