Former NFL Coach and Fandom Wants The Washington Commanders To Switch Back To ‘Redskins’

A former NFL coach, along with a significant portion of the fan base, is pushing for the Washington Commanders to revert their team name back to the Redskins. This has been a heated topic for years, with various opinions circulating, but former coach Chuck Pagano believes the name should be changed back.

The Commanders are off to a stellar start this season, thanks in large part to rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who has made an impressive impact in just three games as a starter. Despite their early success, there have been calls from Pagano and numerous fans to bring back the Redskins name. Pagano expressed this sentiment after discussing one of the team’s recent victories.

While he is far from the only one who feels this way, the chances of a name change seem very unlikely. The debate surrounding the team name has been tumultuous, and although many fans are nostalgic for the name they grew to love, it doesn’t seem like a return to the Redskins is in the cards.

Pagano isn’t alone in his opinion, as many Commanders fans, as well as others around the NFL, share the same desire. These fans often point out that the Kansas City Chiefs have been allowed to keep their name, which they see as being in the same category as the Redskins. Supporters of the old name argue that it was intended to honor Native Americans, rather than demean them.

Despite the ongoing push from some fans for the name to return, it appears highly unlikely that the Washington Commanders will revert back to their former identity.
