Former Collingwood player Shannon Cox has been jailed for more than a decade following a car crash that killed two women.
The incident in June 2024 occurred on the Brand Highway in Western Australia, with Cox colliding with a trailer before hitting a vehicle carrying Thelma Clausen and Coral Seinor, who both died at the scene, per an ABC report.
Cox, who had methylamphetamine in his system, pleaded guilty to two charges of manslaughter. It was revealed that Cox had less than four hours’ sleep, and may have fallen asleep while driving.
Cox’s 12-year-old daughter was also in the car and sustained minor injuries from the crash.
The 39-year-old was on a community-based order following incidents relating to driving with methylamphetamine in his system in the past three years.
