The Brooklyn Nets front office has seemingly had enough of forward Michael Porter Jr. making a show of himself on podcasts, as he revealed that the organization has told him to “steer clear of certain topics.”
The 27-year-old Michael Porter Jr. has an extensive recent history of making controversial comments on podcasts, both on his own show and ones hosted by other athletes and influencers.
On his own Curious Mike podcast, he’s previously talked about women as a “vice” and said he uses Andrew Tate clips to “test” women he dates.
Then, on Justin Laboy’s podcast, he told a story about making his ex split rent despite his huge contract and continuing to pay half only if she “acted right.” He’s also made comments about his brother Jontay’s lifetime ban due to illegal gambling, COVID-conspiracies and anti-vax remarks.

Appearing on the Ball in the Family podcast this week — there are simply *way too many* podcasts hosted by athletes — Porter Jr. that the Nets have essentially told him to pipe down.
“To be on the internet for anything else other than basketball, I feel like that’s a summertime thing,” Porter Jr. said.
“Even the organization, we just had conversations that they would appreciate it if I steered clear of certain topics. That’s why the WNBA thing is just a topic that’s kind of sensitive nowadays. I try to be just aware of that,” he continued, referencing the time where he said that his 8th–9th grade self and Lonzo Ball would “go crazy” in the WNBA.
