Damola Ajayi is with the Tottenham squad to take on Leeds United on Sunday (28 May), according to Lilywhite Rose.
The 17-year-old, who plays for the club’s Under-18s, has not made a single appearance for the senior team.
But he will now be at Elland Road for his side’s Premier League clash with the Whites.
The hosts are in desperate need of all three points as they fight for their safety, with the visitors fighting for a European spot.
“Told academy year one forward, Damola Ajayi (17) is with the squad,” Lilywhite Rose wrote on
It is a huge moment for the youngster, who won’t forget this day in a hurry, with plenty at stake in this massive clash.
There is nothing to play for in some other matches across the Premier League, but both clubs have a lot riding on this match at Elland Road.
Ajayi being with the squad in Yorkshire not only shows that Tottenham boss Ryan Mason is willing to put faith in the youth, but also that he feels the academy ace is ready to make the step up to senior football.
Tottenham fans will only be focusing on the match at Elland Road, but they can take comfort in knowing that there is talent from within the academy that can make the progression to the first team in the near future.
Leeds, of course, will also only be focusing on the match, but they could also have a few young players among their squad given how some first team members could be missing the clash through injury.
