Rafael van der Vaart has told Radu Dragusin that Tottenham fans will show a lot of love for him if he fights for the shirt and gives his all every game.
There is plenty of excitement at Spurs about the arrival of Dragusin, who joins the club on the back of an extremely impressive 18-month spell at Genoa.
While the centre-back had always been earmarked as a great talent from his younger days, he had started to mature during the last year at Luigi Ferraris Stadium and the youngster now looks set to kick on to the next level at the North London side.
One can see why Ange Postecoglou was keen on him as the 21-year-old’s aggressiveness, pace and technical quality make him a good fit for the Australian system.
Van der Vaart tells Dragusin to give his all at Tottenham
Van der Vaart, who was extremely popular among the White Hart Lane faithful during his playing days, has now told the newest arrival that the Spurs fans demand maximum effort from the players every game.
The Dutchman said to Romanian outlet Digisport about Dragusin’s switch to Tottenham: “They told me that he is from here and that he did a good job in Italy. Tottenham is a next step in his career, he’s a tall, strong lad, fits the style of the Premier League.
“I haven’t watched him, he looks like a fighter, but the fans want to give 200%. That’s my advice to him, that’s how they’ll love him. You have to show that you want to play for the club.”

While Rafa’s sentiment is appreciated, it is a little ironic as he himself was not the hardest working (due to his physical limitations rather than a lack of effort) even though he was technically the best player on the pitch on most weekends.
However, what one could never doubt was Van de Vaart’s passion and love for the club as he played with his heart on his sleeve, which the supporters responded to.
