Alasdair Gold has suggested that the Tottenham Hotspur players and Harry Kane would be ‘very happy’ for Ryan Mason to be their next manager.
Following the sacking of Antonio Conte and then Cristian Stellini, it was Ryan Mason who, for the second time in his career, was handed the keys to the Tottenham dugout by Daniel Levy.
The 31-year-old failed to guide Spurs to a European finish following the conclusion of the 2022/23 Premier League season on Sunday, but for Gold, he is someone very much admired from within, as he told his own YouTube channel.
Given that Spurs require a rebuild, then it would be a surprise if someone like Mason is given the job full-time simply because he is still very raw as a manager.
Yes, he has been in the dugout on two occasions already and has stated that he is ‘ready’ to take the gig full-time, but given the current mood of the fans, they won’t react well if Levy decides to go down that road.
But saying that, he is seemingly well-liked from within the four walls of Tottenham, including by Harry Kane.
“I have been told that there are a lot of players that would play for Ryan Mason,” said Gold. “They would be very happy if he was manager. I am sure Harry Kane is one of them as well.
“I do think people really underestimate how he is going to become a young top coach. I think he is going to go away and be very successful elsewhere, then we will say ‘surely it’s a matter of time before he comes back to be Tottenham’s coach’. I hope that’s true.”
WHO WILL BE TOTTENHAM’S NEXT MANAGER?
You can rule out Arne Slot, who has decided to stay at Dutch champions Feyenoord.
But one that will hurt the Spurs fans the most is their former manager Mauricio Pochettino heading to Stamford Bridge and becoming Chelsea’s new coach.
When Conte was booted out, many Spurs fans called for Pochettino to return, but it seems as though Spurs didn’t even consider bringing him back.
