Liverpool open transfer talks to sign £88m Newcastle United player

Liverpool have reportedly opened transfer talks to sign Newcastle United superstar Bruno Guimaraes, who could be on the move this summer.

According to Goal Brasil, the Reds are interested in the Brazilian international, who this season played a key role in pushing Eddie Howe’s side to an unlikely UEFA Champions League finish ahead of Liverpool as well as the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea.

Lauded by Gabriel Martinelli as ‘so good’, the midfielder has been nothing short of a revelation since arriving in the Premier League 18 months ago. And now, Liverpool are looking to add Guimaraes to their ranks, even with Newcastle slapping on a €100m (£88m) asking price.

Moreover, the Reds are not alone in their interest, with FC Barcelona also chasing Guimaraes. Yet despite all of this, there’s a good chance that the midfielder will opt to sign a new deal with Newcastle, especially with the Toon now in Europe’s elite club competition.

Indeed, Guimaraes has become a cult hero at St. James Park and looks at home in Newcastle. And although Liverpool would be an appealing option for the South American, the midfielder really has no excuse to leave for Anfield this summer.

Liverpool should quit while they’re ahead for Guimaraes this summer

Guimaraes is nothing short of an incredible midfielder who has played a massive role in Newcastle’s sensational rise from Premier League relegation to the Champions League. Yet for Liverpool, the Merseyside giants should quit while they’re ahead when it comes to their interest in the Brazilian.

As we know, Guimaraes is comfortable at Newcastle and looks ready to take the club to a new level as they rejoin the European elite, and for Liverpool, even their stature and mythos might not be enough to convince the midfielder to make the move to Anfield.
