Liverpool will reportedly soon open talks with VfL Wolfsburg over the potential signing of Micky van de Ven, who Reds sporting director Jorg Schmadtke is a big fan of.
According to WAZ, the Merseyside giants will begin negotiations in the coming days with the Bundesliga outfit over the Dutch defender, who this season has been one of the breakout names in Europe having become an indispensable member of Wolfsburg’s starting XI.
Lauded by Football Talent Scout as a ‘tremendous’ talent, Van den Ven is naturally now wanted by many top clubs across the continent, and Liverpool are no exception, with the Anfield side keen to add to their defence this summer alongside overhauling their midfield.
With a reported asking price of just £26m, the 22-year-old could be a cost-effective option for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp looks to flesh out his centre-back options in the transfer window, and Van de Ven could be an incredible option for the German coach.
Indeed, Van de Ven has shown he has the talent to perform at the highest level with Wolfsburg. And with Liverpool now ready to open talks with the defender in the near future, the centre-back could be keen on a move to Anfield to test himself at a whole new level.
Liverpool have to push hard for Van de Ven this window
Van de Ven has firmly put himself on the footballing map after a year to remember with Wolfsburg, and for Liverpool, the Dutchman could be a perfect signing based on his performances in the Bundesliga as well as his reported asking price of less than £30m.
With Schmadtke the man to bring the defender to Wolfsburg in the first place, it won’t be a surprise if the German transfer official again looked to sign the centre-back. And Liverpool could stand to benefit big time if a deal can be made this summer.
