Pablo Maia has a dream, and Newcastle United have the chance to make him realise it.
Newcastle are one of multiple Premier League clubs linked with signing Maia, who is a 21-year-old midfielder who currently plays for Sao Paulo in Brazil.
His performances in South America could earn him a move to a European club in the near future, with the Magpies in the conversation to sign him.
Newcastle interested in Pablo Maia
According to Sao Paulo Sempre, Newcastle are one of four English clubs that are tracking Maia ahead of the summer transfer window. The other teams that are linked are West Ham, Fulham and Nottingham Forest.
Maia also has a suitor in Spain, with Atletico Madrid keen on the defensive midfielder. They will be joining us in next season’s Champions League.
With plenty of clubs keen on his signature, Maia is a man in demand, and a player who is available for a decent fee too.
According to Globo Esporte, Sao Paulo are braced for offers for the youngster, and could be willing to sell him if they receive an offer worth £13million.
That could make Maia a rather cheap investment, and he would no doubt jump at the chance to join a club like Newcastle. That is because he has made it very clear that he would like to play in Europe at some point in his career.
He told UOL last year: “It’s a dream of mine to play in Europe.”
That dream could now become a reality, and a move to Newcastle would see him play alongside fellow Brazilians Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes. That would surely be appealing, although each interested team has a Brazilian of their own already in their ranks.
Maia is the latest in a long list of players in South America who Newcastle have looked at. It is clearly a part of the world that the Magpies are looking to take advantage of, as they scour the globe for future stars.
The hope is that Maia falls into that category, with multiple Premier League clubs eyeing his signature.
