Newcastle United will reportedly present a “staggering” bid to sign Dominik Szoboszlai from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig.
According to a report by L’Equipe, as relayed by Sport Witness, Dominik Szoboszlai is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. And the Magpies are ready to offer a huge offer to sign the 22-year-old from RB Leipzig. The Bundesliga club will use the proceeds from his sale to fund the move for Lois Openda.
Dominik Szoboszlai spent most of his formative years in his homeland. But he rose to prominence after moving to Austria half a dozen years ago. In particular, his stock rose during his stint with Red Bull Salzburg. And he has made gradual progress following his move to Salzburg’s sister club RB Leipzig in January 2021.
The 22-year-old is one of the best playmakers in the Bundesliga. And he enjoyed an excellent 2022/23 season, contributing to 23 goals (10 strikes, 13 assists). Szoboszlai’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with several high-profile clubs, including Newcastle United, interested in him.
Newcastle United will revamp the first-team squad in the summer transfer window. The Magpies have returned to the UEFA Champions League after two decades. And Eddie Howe wants to bolster the squad enough to sustain a challenge on all four fronts next season. Newcastle United will thus reinforce almost every department ahead of the 2023/24 season.
As for the midfield unit, Dominik Szoboszlai is a top target for Newcastle United. And the Hungarian international’s versatility means he will also bolster the offensive department. Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that Newcastle United recently opened talks to sign him.
The Magpies are now ready to submit a “staggering” bid to sign the 22-year-old. But it is unclear how much RB Leipzig will demand to part ways with the youngster. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga giants plan to use the money recouped from Szoboszlai’s sale to fund the move for Lois Openda.
Meanwhile, the Hungarian playmaker wants to move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window. And with Newcastle United hot on his heels, a move to St. James’ Park is on the cards. It will be interesting to see if the Tyneside club’s impending “staggering” bid does the trick.
