According to reports in Spain, former Newcastle forward Joselu looks set to join Real Madrid after his relegation with Espanyol was confirmed.
This comes from MARCA, who claim the La Liga giants have activated a relegation release clause in his contract, allowing him to join on a one-year loan for the 2023/24 season.
The former Stoke striker scored just six goals in 46 appearances during his time on Tyneside, but could now be on his way to arguably the biggest club in the world after his impressive run of form.
Since his departure from the North East, Joselu has been on a great goalscoring run in Spain, recording double figures in four consecutive seasons – 16 in this campaign – for both Espanyol and Alaves.
It would be incredible to think that the Spaniard could make a return to St James’ Park next season should we draw Real Madrid in the Champions League group stage.
Just like Newcastle since Eddie Howe arrived, it’s been some turnaround for Joselu! Good luck to him.
