Player with 110 appearances ‘likely’ to leave Newcastle United this summer

Reports in Spain suggest the full-back is likely to leave Newcastle United this summer.

Javier Manqullo is likely to leave Newcastle United this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The 29-year-old, who missed the whole of pre-season due to a groin problem, has made just six appearances in total in 2022-23.

Manquillo has started cup games against Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday but played just 34 minutes from four Premier League games.

With Harrison Ashby signed as understudy to first-choice right-back Kieran Trippier, and Eddie Howe eyeing a new left-back in the summer, Manquillo’s playing time is set to become even more restricted.

It’s claimed by Spanish publication AS that clubs in Spain, England, Germany and France are interested in signing Manquillo, who has one left year on his contract.

Manquillo joined the Magpies under Rafa Benitez in 2019 following a season-long spell at local rivals Sunderland. In total, the full-back has made 110 appearances for Newcastle.
