Player’s move to Tottenham ‘very advanced’ – Hint Spurs have convinced 27-year-old for transfer

Last week, we relayed news from the Catalan media that Tottenham Hotspur have already informed Barcelona they want to sign Clément Lenglet as they are ‘satisfied’ with him.

The La Liga side allowed the defender to join Spurs on loan last summer. The latter don’t have an option or obligation to make his stay permanent. His displays this season have convinced them to buy him.

Friday’s Mundo Deportivo mentions Tottenham’s interest in the 27-year-old when focusing on Barca’s exit operations.

Xavi Hernández’s side have to raise funds by by selling some of their players before making any new signings in the summer.
The Blaugrana have identified a few sale candidates and the Frenchman is one who is on the ‘exit ramp’. Mundo point out Tottenham ‘want to sign’ him permanently and further add that his move to Spurs is ‘very advanced’.
There’s no mention of the fee Barca will collect from the former Sevilla man’s sale to the Premier League side.

An earlier report stated Tottenham are willing to pay €20m, but Lenglet had to be convinced first to seal the deal. With Mundo claiming the operation is ‘very advanced’, one could assume the player has given his approval to this transfer.
