It has been reported that Liverpool plan to promote Ranel Young to the first-team squad next season as Roberto Firmino has now left the club.
This revelation comes from the Daily Mail, as it has been claimed that alongside Ben Doak, those within the club also believe that the 17-year-old could be destined for big things in the senior side, as he finally gets his big break in the side.
This is certainly exciting news for Ranel Young, who could get game time under his belt for Liverpool in the following campaign, now that Roberto Firmino has bid farewell to the club.
Branded as a player ‘blessed with pace and the ability to drift past defenders’ by the Reds’ official website, the talented right-winger is certainly one of the most talented young players in the club’s youth setup.
While one would expect Young not to be a regular starter so early into his career, if he continues to impress in training and during the occasional start, he may have a big future in Merseyside after all.
Liverpool youngster Ranel Young should target the Europa League as his stomping ground
While it is unfortunate for Liverpool that they failed to qualify for the Champions League, Ranel Young could now have the perfect platform to showcase his talent by getting minutes in the Europa League.
In Europe’s elite competition, it is quite rare for young players to even get a single start, let alone a run of games.
However, with the quality of opposition, especially during the initial rounds of the Europa League, Jurgen Klopp could give the teenager a runout to see what he is made of.
In case Ranel Young does step up to the plate, that could bode well for his future in terms of getting more first-team opportunities currently and perhaps being viewed as a successor to Mohamed Salah.
