Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are reportedly confident that James Maddison will choose them over Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
Football Transfers are reporting this afternoon that Newcastle United are confident that Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison will pick them over Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The report has claimed that Newcastle believe “that a combination of more game time and more money than the 26-year-old might get at Arsenal” will convince him to move to St. James’ Park and not to the Emirates Stadium.
The Mirror reported last month that Arsenal are keen on Maddison, described as “perfect” by talkSPORT pundit and Rangers legend Ally McCoist in March.
Newcastle United over Arsenal for James Maddison
In our view, James Maddison should pick Newcastle United over Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal do have a very good attacking unit.
Martin Odegaard has been superb for the Gunners, who also have Emile Smith Rowe to call upon.
Newcastle will play in the UEFA Champions League next season and will aim to challenge for the Premier League title in the coming years.
Maddison would fit in nicely in Eddie Howe’s team at Newcastle and could go straight into the starting lineup.
The Leicester City playmaker is ready to take the next step in his career, and a move to Newcastle would be hugely appealing to him.
The Leicester no. 10 made 28 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League this season.
Maddison scored 10 goals and gave nine assists in those games.
