Tottenham are continuing to press on in their pursuit of Pedro Porro and according to Rudy Galetti, have agreed on personal terms.
Galetti writes on his website how there is an agreement in principle between the player and Spurs. Porro is said to be Antonio Conte’s main target to fill the wing-back slots. If he does sign, then both Emerson Royal and Mat Doherty are expected to be allowed to move on.
Porro has been in fine form for Sporting Lisbon and has impressed against English teams in recent times. Seen as the ideal attacking wing-back for Conte’s system, Spurs are pushing to sign.
However, there is still no update on whether Tottenham will pay the money needed. Galetti writes how Sporting are still not budging on their valuation and will only accept the £40m release clause in his contract.
Tottenham are keen on adding a number of new players if they can this month. The fight for the top four is tighter than ever, and Conte knows he needs extra players to get in there again.
Porro, who has been lauded for his ‘unpredictable‘ playing style in wide areas, would be a great start to the window.
TBR’s View: Porro can get Tottenham going down the right
Djed Spence, Mat Doherty, and Emerson Royal. Three right backs all deemed not quite up to scratch by Antonio Conte right now.
It very much seems, then, that Spurs need to get themselves sorted when it comes to signing Pedro Porro. It’s clear the player wants to move, and there’s an obvious fee to pay as well.
Porro very much has a lot for Spurs to like. He’s exciting on the ball, and brings an attacking threat at wing-back that is hard to find. Put simply, he improves the Spurs XI, and that’s what Conte needs.
