Texas Longhorns And Steve Sarkisian Receive Big News After Four-star QB Kavian Bryant Confirmed His Commitment Decision

Sep 20, 2025; Austin, Texas, USA; Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian leads his team onto the field before a game against the Sam Houston State Bearkats.

Despite the ongoing quarterback concerns in Austin, the Texas Longhorns have consistently attracted elite talent at the position under head coach Steve Sarkisian.

From bringing in Quinn Ewers via transfer to securing a commitment from five-star recruit Dia Bell, Sarkisian has built impressive depth in the quarterback room.

Now, Texas is in position to add another top-tier prospect. Four-star quarterback Kavian Bryant has trimmed his list of finalists to five: Texas, Texas Tech, SMU, Florida State, and Colorado.

Bryant announced that he will make his college decision on November 1, choosing from among the five Power Conference programs.

Kavian Bryant, a native of Palestine, TX—just three hours from Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium—has grown up close to the Texas Longhorns program. However, despite that proximity, he’s only made one visit to Austin.

So far, Bryant hasn’t taken any official visits, but he’s made multiple stops elsewhere: three visits to Lubbock to see Texas Tech, two to Dallas for SMU, and even two trips to College Station to check out Texas A&M.

Even with limited interaction with the Longhorns, Bryant still included Texas in his final five schools. That said, recruiting analysts from On3 and Rivals currently project Texas Tech as the overwhelming favorite to land his commitment, giving the Red Raiders a 97.8% chance. Meanwhile, Texas, SMU, and the rest of the finalists are each given less than a 1% shot.

Ranked as the No. 2 quarterback nationally in the 2027 class—behind only five-star Elijah Haven—Bryant is also the fifth-best prospect in Texas, trailing five-star talents John Meredith (CB), Kennedy Brown (OT), Jalen Brewster (DL), and four-star linebacker Cooper Witten.

Bryant is set to make his college decision on November 1, two weeks from today, choosing between Texas, Texas Tech, SMU, Florida State, and Colorado.
