There is interest” – Fabrizio Romano confirms Tottenham’s interest in Bundesliga star; club “sent their scouts”

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham had sent scouts to watch Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba ahead of the summer transfer window.

Tottenham have had an extremely disappointing season which saw them finish 8th in the league. The likes of Brighton and Aston Villa finished above them.

Their defense was one of the many problems Spurs had this season. They conceded the most goals (63) in the top half of the table.

To back how bad their defense was, only 5 teams in the league conceded more goals than Spurs – Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, Leicester City, Leeds United, and Southampton – three of the teams are those who got relegated.

Which is why it is not surprising to see Spurs get linked with defenders. With Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier reportedly set to leave as well, they will require new additions to the squad.

And the Bundesliga defender is a great option for Spurs. Fabrizio Romano confirms that both Arsenal and Spurs are interested in him with Spurs also sending scouts to watch him play earlier in the season.

However, he claimed that the German club would only let him go for “big money” which is going to be a fee in the region of £43m-£47m.

When speaking about the interest from the North London clubs in Tapsoba, Romano told GiveMeSport:

“I think it will be a tough race and situation because several clubs are interested. Also, Tottenham sent their scouts, and there is interest in Tapsoba. But also, because Bayer Leverkusen will only let him go for big money, more than €50m-€55m (£43m-£47m).”

Tapsoba has been one of the stand out performers for Bayer Leverkusen over the years. He is a ball playing centre-back with great passing abilities and ideal for teams who like to play out from the back.
