Manchester City are now keen to sign Barcelona No.6 Gavi – a player who Cesc Fabregas adores, as well as one who has been compared to Francesco Totti.
It was TEAMtalk who claimed that Pep Guardiola wants to sign the Spain international, and a bid of £120m could be enough to lure him away from Barcelona.
So, what has Cesc Fabregas said about Manchester City target Gavi in the past? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the Spaniard rose through Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy – which is where the Manchester City target learned his trade too.
Therefore, Fabregas is well placed to speak about Gavi’s rise to prominence, and he believes the 19-year-old is a truly special talent.
The 36-year-old once told Foot Mercato: “Gavi is really a very good player, very technical and very precocious. What strikes me the most about him is his ability to go to the duel, not to be afraid of confrontation, like against Aurélien (Tchouameni) during a Clasico.
“He plays with personality and I like that. If he continues, Gavi can do great things.”

TEAMtalk add that Chelsea are also looking at the teenager, who could be sold to help Barcelona deal with their financial issues.
Manchester City target Gavi has been compared to Francesco Totti
The praise for Gavi does not stop there.
Barcelona’s No.6 has also been compared to Roma legend Totti by Demetrio Albertini.
The 52-year-old told ANSA: “Gavi is an exception, he is Francesco Totti. You can see a talented player right away. They have courage, and play without fear.”

It speaks volumes that Gavi has already attracted such praise – from Gary Lineker as well – before even entering his twenties.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Manchester City attempt to sign the Spain international in 2024.
