James Maddison has returned to full training while his Tottenham Hotspur teammates were on holiday last week.
The 27-year-old is closing in on a return to action after missing 11 games with an ankle injury.
Maddison was forced off in the 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in early November and hasn’t featured since.
The Englishman is reportedly pushing to feature against Manchester City in the FA Cup on Friday as he steps up his recovery.
Now, The Athletic has shared what Maddison has been doing at Tottenham while his teammates were enjoying a mid-season break last week.
What Maddison has been doing at Tottenham during winter break
Maddison returned to full training last week and stayed at Hotspur Way while his teammates flew off on holiday.
The Spurs squad were handed a well-earned rest after a testing first half of the campaign.
But Maddison has been putting in extra work behind the scenes as he eyes a return to the squad on Friday.
Spurs have coped fairly well without Maddison over the past couple of months as they remain in touching distance of the top four.
Ange Postecoglou hasn’t been helped by the fact that the former Leicester City man’s absence coincided with several injuries to key players.
Nevertheless, the Aussie boss will be hopeful he is through the worst of it when it comes to injuries now.
Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero returned to the side in the 2-2 draw at Manchester United last time out.
Alongside Maddison, Manor Solomon is also eyeing a return to action Friday and Tottenham will welcome back the likes of Yves Bissouma, Heung-Min Son and Pape Matar Sarr next month.
Spurs sit just three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal and will be gearing up for an exciting second half of the season.
Having Maddison back will be a welcome boost for Postecoglou after the midfielder had made such a huge impact during the early stages of his Spurs career.
