What Pochettino knows about Harry Kane as he hopes for reunion with Tottenham No.10 at Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino is hoping to be reunited with Harry Kane at Chelsea as he prepares to take over from Frank Lampard.

The England international only has 12 months left on his contract at Spurs, so a potential exit from N17 is certainly on the cards this summer.

Now – thanks to talkSPORT – we have been given some insight into what Mauricio Pochettino knows about his chances of bringing Harry Kane to Chelsea.

What’s the story?
Well, it is said that the Argentine knows he is unlikely to sign Kane from his old side, as he believes Daniel Levy is highly unlikely to do business with Chelsea.

The 61-year-old is widely known to be a tough negotiator, and denied the Tottenham No.10 a move back in the summer of 2021 when he handed in a transfer request, following a £100m bid from Manchester City.

TalkSPORT add that Victor Osimhen has consequently risen to the No.1 spot on Chelsea’s list of transfer targets, as Pochettino believes a quality No.9 can help fire the Blues back to the summit of English football.

The Nigeria international has been one of the most prolific forwards across Europe this season, scoring 23 goals in 30 Serie A appearances as Napoli became Italian champions for the first time in 33 years.

Victor Osimhen makes more sense for Chelsea than Harry Kane
Both Osimhen and Kane will be very, very expensive for Chelsea, so it makes more sense for Pochettino to target the Napoli No.9 this summer due to his age.

The Nigerian is just 24, whereas Kane turns 30 in July.

Therefore, Osimhen represents the wiser long-term investment, as he would at least provide plenty of re-sell value for Chelsea, whereas the Blues would most likely be the final side to experience Kane’s best years if he did join this summer.

Be sure to keep an eye on developments at Chelsea, as anything could happen this summer
