White Sox Shake Up Roster Ahead of Mariners Series! Veteran Pitcher Takes a Bold Turn in Chicago

The Chicago White Sox are preparing to begin a home series against the Seattle Mariners on Friday night after suffering a disappointing 8-2 defeat to the Los Angeles Angels earlier this week.

Before the opener in Chicago, the White Sox made a notable roster change by calling up left-handed pitcher Tyler Schweitzer from Triple-A Charlotte while designating veteran right-hander Osvaldo Bido for assignment.

Bido, who started the season with the Atlanta Braves before being picked up by Chicago, struggled to find consistency on the mound. The 30-year-old posted a 2-0 record but carried a 6.27 ERA across 11 appearances this season.

The pitcher has now spent parts of four seasons in Major League Baseball, previously playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Athletics before his stints with Atlanta and Chicago. Across 69 MLB appearances, Bido owns an 11-13 career record with a 5.17 ERA.

The move sparked plenty of reactions online, with many White Sox fans welcoming the decision. Some supporters praised the organization for giving younger talent another opportunity, especially considering Schweitzer’s impressive performances in Triple-A.

Others viewed the move as a sign that the club is becoming more aggressive in its rebuilding process by moving on from underperforming veterans.

Chicago currently sits at 17-20 on the season, placing third in the American League Central. The White Sox have been inconsistent at home as well, going 7-8 in their first 15 games at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Following the three-game set against Seattle, the White Sox will remain in Chicago for another home series, this time against the Kansas City Royals.
