NFL fans lose their minds as Jameis Winston interviews tuna fish: “This is our greatest American”

NFL fans are going crazy about Jameis Winston taking time off football and going fishing where he then proceeded to interview a couple of tuna fishes on a boat. He is seen holding a microphone and asking the flopping fish questions.

It spawned a lot of comments on social media, many of which saw the hilarity of the whole thing. X was full of posts reacting to the story. Here are some examples.

The new Cleveland Browns quarterback also found a lot of love from New Orleans Saints fans, with whom he played from 2020 to 2023. Some of the reactions were asking him to come back.

“I’ll speak for NOLA, we miss Jameis.”

“Man bring him back”

“Get him back.”

Jameis Winston has a long and challenging season ahead of him

While the fun in the offseason is indeed charming, Jameis Winston will have a lot to prove this year. He has joined the Cleveland Browns after his stint with the New Orleans Saints and this will mark a change of scenery for him. Originally drafted first overall in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, this will be his first season outside the NFC South. It will also be his first season in the AFC, which arguably has the best quarterbacks in the league.

Not that he is likely to start as Deshaun Watson returns from injury. But sitting behind him might also bring unwanted focus on his own past where he was accused of sexual indiscretions, including a groping incident for which he was suspended by the league, much like his new quarterback teammate also was.

And if he gets the chance to take the field, he will be unfairly compared to Joe Flacco, who won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award. The former Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl-winning quarterback was sensational at the back end of the season, as he led them to a 4-1 record and a playoff appearance. If Jameis Winston has to come in and cannot reach that level, he will be unfairly maligned.

He has left relative stability in New Orleans and chosen a new challenge. One could argue that he needed one as he did not start as single game last year, even as the franchise was struggling and did not make the playoffs. This change of scenery could bring him new opportunities. It could equally make him look like a fish out of water if he underperforms.
