Tottenham Hotspur keeping tabs on out-of-favour Al Ittihad star Jota
According to the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on talented forward Jota who plays his football (or does he?) for Al Ittihad.
The footballing world has seen its fair share of surprising transfers and career twists, but few could have predicted Jota’s Saudi Arabian adventure after his time at Celtic. Now, as the Saudi Pro League rules threaten to limit his playing time, Tottenham are among the Premier League clubs keenly eyeing the situation.
The recent injury to Ivan Perisic has thrown Tottenham into a state of flux, prompting them to explore options on the wings. Heung-min Son, typically a stalwart on the wing, has been called upon to fill a more central role under the stewardship of new manager Ange Postecoglou.
This positional change has left a void in the wide areas, prompting Spurs to consider reinforcements. Jota, with his experience and versatility, could be the answer to Postecoglou’s dilemma.
Jota’s move from Celtic to Al-Ittihad in the summer raised eyebrows across Europe, with a transfer fee of £25 million. However, his arrival in Saudi Arabia coincided with a rule that allows Pro League teams to register only eight overseas players in their squads.
