Tottenham Hotspur signed Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig during the January transfer window.
The 27-year-old has been brought in to add more quality and depth to the attacking unit.
The London club have an option to sign the player permanently for a fee of around £15 million at the end of the season, but a report from Football Insider claims that the Premier League club have no plans to make the loan move permanent.
Werner is now expected to return to Germany at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old has made two appearances for the North London club so far and he has picked up one assist. It will be interesting to see if he can continue to impress with his performances in the coming months.
If he can convince Tottenham with consistent performances over the next few months, the London club might decide to exercise the option to sign him permanently. He had a tough time at RB Leipzig during the first half of the season and a permanent exit from the German club would be ideal for him.
A permanent move to Tottenham is likely to appeal to the striker in the summer and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
The reported £15 million asking price is certainly reasonable for a player of his quality but he will need to convince the Premier League outfit to trigger the clause with his performances.
